Debate Debrief
Last night, I had the opportunity to debate my opponent, Pete Ricketts, at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. We went back and forth, arguing for our vision of Nebraska… though Pete seemed to be obsessed with this “Democrat Dan” guy. I’m not sure if he was seeing double or if there should have been a third podium up there for someone else, but I’m a lifelong independent.
One thing that was clear last night was the difference between who my opponent and I work for. Pete Ricketts tried to spin his record to seem like it was best for Nebraskans, but when you look at who wins under Ricketts’ policies, it is consistently his party bosses and his donors, which includes his parents.

Last night I put out a vision for Nebraska where hard work pays off. I didn’t fall for Ricketts tricks - instead I kept my focus on what really mattered - standing up for hard-working Nebraskans. Every policy that I stood for last night, from fixing the border to agriculture to getting the money out of our politics, is one that I believe in because it works for everyday Americans who do things the right way.
A huge shout out to all the supporters who came out to watch the debate live in Grand Island, attended one of our watch parties, or tuned in from the couch. Your support is what keeps me going as we get into the final stretch of this election.

Thank you to NCN and the panelists from the Nebraska Press Corp who put on the debate. It was a great opportunity to, once again, demonstrate our willingness to be accountable and transparent to the voters. Today, we continued our 93-county tour with stops in St. Paul, Ord, and Kearney. If you missed the debate, catch it here.
